Frequently Asked Questions

Please see below for answers to the most commonly asked questions when applying for representation with CTC Management.

Why join CTC Management?
CTC is now well established, we are well known in the industry having established some excellent contacts within the industry to include leading casting directors. We pride ourselves on providing a quality provision and continue to work very hard to build excellent working relationships with clients. We are a small independent Agency, we are selective, and we pride ourselves on being personable, this is what sets us apart from the masses. As such will only ever put forward an artist who will satisfy our client’s specific requirements, as we do not want to waste their time or yours!
Who can apply to join our agency?
CTC Management is a sole representation Talent Agency for children and young performers and welcomes applications from any member within the company aged 3-25 years.
What does sole representation mean?
Given the commercial nature of the business CTC Management offers their representation on a sole agency basis this means you cannot be represented by any other agency or other person, please do not apply if your child is a member of another agency or if you intend to join other agencies.
What is the application process?
Complete and submit an application form here.
What is the selection process?
We will consider all applications carefully – remember as a CTC member you will already be known to us. We will review your specific attributes, confidence and suitability for agency work. In some cases we may request you attend a personal audition.
Does my application guarantee acceptance?
Whilst the CTC would like to represent all children/young performers within the company, given the very nature of this extremely competitive industry we can only represent a selected few and those children/young performers who in our professional opinion can demonstrate certain attributes. Feedback will be given to both successful and unsuccessful applicants.
What are the costs for joining?
If you are invited to join our agency there are costs involved: An annual administration fee payable to CTC between £40.00-£06.00, this also covers your profile photographs for our online portals. Spotlight membership currently £106.00 – this amount covers inclusion in the UK’s number one professional casting directory.
When and where are Casting Auditions held?
Audition castings are held every day of the week throughout the year. As a parent, guardian, grandparent or relative will need to be available to take your child to and from Casting Auditions during the day (weekday and on occasion weekends) again sometimes these can be at short notice. CTC try wherever possible to negotiate auditions after school however this is not always possible. The vast majority of Casting Auditions will be held in London or another major city in the UK, you must be prepared to travel sometimes at short notice and at your own expense to attend these. The same applies for any recalls although normally but not always a fee is paid to attend these.
What is the selection process at casting auditions?
Production companies and casting directors supply casting agencies with summaries referred to as casting briefs that describe the type and numbers of young performers they need for their specific role or production. This is where the search begins to find suitable artists. Casting agencies will then circulate this brief to all relevant parties within the industry, to include ourselves and always use their best efforts to match the supplied casting brief, this is what they get paid to do! They rely on agents such as CTC Management to submit suitable clients to match their specific brief. From these submissions Casting agencies will then invite suitable clients to attend an audition and of course, subject to their performance at the audition, they will then have a reasonable chance of finding the right artist for the job.
What can I expect at the auditions?
Casting auditions are normally very busy, more often than not you can be in and out within 5 minutes, on other occasions they can be longer up to 20minutes, it is very rare for an audition casting to be longer than 20 minutes. Sometimes you audition may be an individual experience other occasions you may be asked to audition with others. Casting auditions are normally recorded on video, this is so they can submit recordings to the client who will ultimately make a decision on who to invite to a recall. Recalls are normally very specific, whereby only a selected few are invited back, selection for the job/role is then made.
What happens after the audition?
Given the sheer volume of auditions the industry in general do not give feedback, neither do CTC seek it. We and ultimately you will only receive feedback if successful. If you are successful then we will be notified usually by telephone sometimes email to have you placed on ‘pencil’ or if a soid favourite to get the role a ‘heavy pencil’ this means on stand-by until the client confirms either to recall or release their interest in you.
What happens if I am offered a job?
Any job or role offered will ultimately be confirmed by the CTC, who will on your behalf negotiate all fees and agree the terms within the contract. Note given CTC acts on a sole representation basis this will also include any role/work offered independently. Rest assured the CTC will negotiate the best contract terms possible at all times, remember the more the contract the more our agency commission fees.
Why hasn’t my child received any castings?
CTC Management cannot guarantee success, no reputable agency can. We can only make recommendations, ultimately it is up to the client (casting agencies/casting directors) to confirm whether or not to invite you to audition, subsequent recalls and then ultimately whether to offer you the role/job. Be assured CTC will put forward their clients for all suitable castings. It is important to be realistic, often hundreds and sometimes thousands are submitted for just the one role. The industry is extremely competitive and as such, it is a huge compliment to even be invited to audition, once there it is then down to you to do your very best to get the job.
How and when will I get paid for a job?
Once we receive payment and funds clear we will transfer payment less our commission over to you via Bacs. It can often take a number of weeks to get paid, general expenses are paid reasonably quickly, however usage fees often follow later as these are linked to the actual release date.
What commission do you charge?
CTC Management currently charges 20% +VAT of the total contract worth, this is on a sole representation basis.
